Driving gypsy jazz rhythms, acoustic guitars, upright bass and violin lay the foundation for mesmerizing vocal harmonies and fantastic stories. It’s theatrical and humorous. It’s musical and intense. It entertains, dazzles and defies classification while welcoming the spectator to join the band throughout the performance in momentary fits of claps, snaps and sing-alongs. If Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp and the Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton’s house, Caravan of Thieves would be the band they hired.
— Caravan of Thieves are especially good at Cafe 11 —
It’s true, one of Cafe Eleven’s favorite performances is from Caravan of Thieves every year. They’ve been here 3 times and have brought their high energy, beautifully talented style to our stage with heart felt performances including this one where they end the show off stage singing “Raise The Dead” with the audience. If you want to experience one of the best shows of the year, consistentantly 3 years running, then this is it.
It’s a long clip, but watch the entire Ben Dean Violin solo too. There’s a little of their stage humor, stomping energy and amazing string talents in that one. If you love music, especially strings, then you will love The Caravan of Thieves at Cafe Eleven. It’s a fun and entertaining show for everyone!
